Metal Master HP - Operating Instructions

Important! Please read before using this cutting tool.

Safety
Any cutting tool may shatter if broken. Always wear adequate eye protection.

Coolant
Flood or heavy mist required when machining non-ferrous materials. Ferrous material may be machined dry if lower cutting parameters are used.

Depth of Cut
Recommended maximum depth of cut is .125" (3.2mm). Deeper cuts may cause the clamp screw to loosen.

NOTE: Clamp screws are left hand thread. Socket accepts No. T-20 Torx ™ wrench. Torx ™ is a registered trademark of Camcar Div. - Textron Inc.

Insert Indexing Procedure

NOTE: For roughing operations, indexing can be performed while the tool is installed on the machine. For best surface finish results, however, adjust insert heights after indexing. Taking each module in succession:

1. Loosen insert clamp screw. Turn insert to expose new cutting edge. Re-tighten.

2. Loosen and remove insert clamp screw. Flip insert over and re-install, or replace with new insert. Replace insert clamp screw and retighten.

NOTE: When installing a new insert clamp screw, coat the threads with a quality anti-seize compound to prevent binding.

Adjusting Procedure for Metal Master HP Cutters

1. Remove all locking screws and modules.

2. Thoroughly clean cutter body, modules, and component parts.

3. Index inserts, or install new inserts, following Indexing Procedure, above.

4. Re-install modules into cutter body, seating them against pocket walls and adjustment screw. Install module locking screw and tighten.

5. If using a Setup Fixture: Preset the stop pin to the desired height. Place the cutter in the fixture. Using provided adjusting rod, or similar tool, turn the adjusting screw to bring the insert up to the stop pin. Final - tighten the module locking screw.

6. If using a Dial Indicator: Measure the height of each insert. Final - tighten the highest. Using it as a benchmark, bring each insert to the desired height and final-tighten.
