Metal Master HD - Operating Instructions
Important! Please read before using this cutting tool.
Safety - Any cutting tool may shatter if broken. Always wear adequate eye protection.
Coolant - Flood or heavy mist required when machining non-ferrous materials. Ferrous material may be machined dry if lower cutting parameters are used.
Insert Indexing Procedure
Note - For roughing operations, insert indexing can be performed while the tool is installed on the machine. For best surface finish results, however, check insert heights after indexing. Maximum tolerance is .002 inch (.050mm) total indicator reading. Taking each insert in succession:
1. Loosen clamp screw. Turn insert to expose cutting edge. Re-tighten clamp screw or
2. Loosen and remove clamp screw. Flip insert over and reinstall, or replace with new insert. Replace clamp screw and retighten.
Note - When installing a new clamp screw, coat the threads with a quality anti-seize compound to prevent binding. The clamp screws have right hand thread and screw socket accepts 5/32" hex wrench.
Depth of Cut - recommended maximum depth of cut is .250" (6.5mm). .375" (9.5mm) in non-ferrous and softer materials may be possible. Deeper cuts may cause the clamp screw to loosen.
